Over 120 years of growth
The DDU is the specialist dental division of the MDU which was established in 1885 as a mutual organisation to protect the interests of their fellow professionals.
Today, the MDU is still a mutual company owned by our members, who include dentist, doctors and other healthcare professionals. As always, we remain dedicated to supporting the dento-legal needs and reputations of all our members throughout their professional lives.
The benefits of membership of the MDU are all discretionary and are subject to the Memorandum and Articles of Association.

The MDU is not an insurance company and all benefits of membership are at the discretion of our Board of Management. However we provide most individual paying members the additional security of a Professional Indemnity Policy* coupled with all the traditional benefits of discretion - the best of both worlds.
Dentists for dentists
The ethos of "dentists for dentists " is strong.
Many of our staff have been in clinical practice and have faced the dilemmas and day-to-day problems enabling them to understand and identify with our members' concerns and issues. Our 24-hour advisory helpline is staffed by experienced dentists.
