The MDU 2010 Preparing For Your First Consultant Post Workshops

The MDU Preparing For Your First Consultant Post Workshop has been developed to provide you with the advice and support you need to overcome the challenges ahead and excel in your new responsibilities.

Making the transition from a doctor in training to your first consultant post may be one of the most important events in your professional life. However, it can also be a daunting experience and one that requires thorough preparation. Many consultants look back and say that although they were prepared clinically for the role, they struggled with the management elements.

During the MDU's workshop, you will gain an insight into what is expected of you, how to be an effective leader and the key skills necessary to succeed. Areas covered include:

  • job planning and appraisal
  • line management
  • leadership and teamwork
  • managing meetings
  • dealing with clinical incidents
