Dr Emma Sedgwick

Emma is a joint director of the company Healthcare Performance Ltd which provides coaching, workshops and consultancy to healthcare organisations. Emma qualified from medical school in 1993. After gaining membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists she began her specialist registrar training in child and adolescent psychiatry but made the decision to leave medicine. She then worked for the Medical Defence Union for eight years as a medico-legal adviser and clinical risk manager. Throughout this time she advised doctors about legal and ethical issues relating to their practice. She was also involved in the development and delivery of ethical and legal lectures & workshops. Emma continues to hold a GMC licence to practice medicine.

Emma is a certified NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner. She achieved Certified NLP European Coach status after training with Ian McDermott, recognised as one of the best coach trainers in the UK. She is also a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF). She undertook a career coaching course with Career Counselling Services, which provides her with a licence to use career planning exercises. She completed a Postgraduate Certificate in managing medical careers in January 2009, the first course of its kind in the UK. Emma is interested in working with doctors individually and in groups to improve all aspects of their communication skills. Emma is now undertaking an MSc in coaching and behavioural change at Henley Business College.
